It’s a protein shake with chia seeds – Why you should add chia seeds to protein shakes
Okay, so, Chia seeds are amazing. They have many health benefits, from possibly improving the health of your eyes, improving heart health, and possibly helping to fight depression. 10g of Chia seeds will give you 1.78g of Omega 3 fatty acids, which is what really gives Chia seeds many of their health benefits.
10g of Chia seeds will also provide 1.7g of protein, so they are a great addition to a protein shake smoothie.
Another great thing with Chia seeds is that they give you all of these health benefits without affecting the flavour or texture of the smoothie (unless you add loads of them, of course!).
So add chia seeds to your protein shakes and start reaping the benefits!
It’s a versatile strawberry protein shake – Tips and swaps for this coconut milk protein shake!
So, the great thing about this strawberry coconut protein smoothie is that is pretty versatile when it comes to the coconut. Although I use milk to make this a coconut milk protein shake, you could use coconut yogurt (which will make the coconut flavour less strong). If you like the idea of that, I would recommend checking out this super fresh coconut milk and strawberry smoothie.
You are also not limited in the type of strawberries you use. If you have fresh or frozen strawberries, either are fine. I personally think frozen strawberries work best with this strawberry protein shake because it works well with the coconut milk.
You can also add more strawberries if you love their flavour or reduce the amount of coconut milk. You can go the other way, too, if you love the coconut flavour. A bit of movement either way will still give you the flavour from each.
You also don’t need to use shop-bought coconut milk. Hurrah! In fact, it’s super easy to make your own homemade organic coconut milk, so that you know exactly what is in it, while saving money doing so!
If you prefer not to use Stevia, you can use another natural sweetener like Erythritol. In some ways, that may be more suitable for you, as it is 0g net cars, if you are on a Ketogenic diet.
Here’s another tip if you want to add more calories to this weight gainer shake – add double/heavy cream! it won’t impede the flavour of the coconut strawberry protein shake, but it will add to the calories… a LOT!
It’s a weight gain smoothie protein shake
If you are looking at putting on weight, this is a great option for you as a weight gainer shake. It’s got a massive 72.6g of fat and 29.3g of protein, as well as 840.5 calories! As detailed below, you can easily add even more calories by optionally adding some heavy/double cream.
But it’s not just some bad-for-you fats going in here. These are high-quality coconut fats we are talking about. The fats in coconut are good for you, as they are medium-chain, and are used for energy or ketones and less likely to be stored as fat.
And if you use protein powder regularly, you know how great it can be for putting on muscle.

Ultimate strawberry protein shake with coconut milk weight gain smoothie recipe
Ingredients you will need
Strawberries – You can use fresh or frozen strawberries for this recipe. If you use frozen strawberries, blend them first in to a kind of crushed ice so that they blend into the final strawberry coconut milk smoothie well.
Strawberry protein powder – NOTE WELL – You MUST get a high-quality strawberry protein powder, otherwise this will NOT be the a good tasting weight gain smoothie! Many strawberry protein powders have a bad flavour. They can taste really odd and fake. Many others are also not great as protein powders. You need one that both tastes great, and is a high-quality protein powder. I recommend Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey Protein Powder Delicious Strawberry. It’s very highly recommended by gym-goers, and tastes good. This is what I use in my strawberry protein shake smoothie recipes.
Chia seeds – Make sure you buy high-quality organic chia seeds. Consider buying them in bulk, because they are so easy to add to your smoothies to make smoothies high in Omega 3!
