Green = Yes/Maybe (*always check the recipe and your ingredients to confirm)

Okay, so you’ve been frequenting a café that does a great strawberry matcha latte and you want to have them at home. But you’ve realised they can be a bit of a pain to make, especially to make well, so you wonder how else you can get your matcha latte fix! Well, a strawberry green tea smoothie could be the answer for you!

it uses similar ingredients to a strawberry matcha latte, whilst being much easier to make as it is in smoothie form. It is a matcha powder smoothie, so you can make it very quickly and adjust the matcha flavour as much as you like (as it can be quite overwhelming if you’re not used to it!), and it’s a healthy strawberry smoothie recipe to boot! Oh, and did I mention that it is keto-friendly?

Health benefits of matcha powder

Matcha is made from ground green tea leaves, although it is usually stronger than standard green tea because it is made from whole leaves. It is high in caffeine, amino acids, and antioxidants. The antioxidants may help to prevent cell damage, and may help with weight loss. Matcha green tea powder could also help with heart health and liver health. Matcha could also improve brain function as well as help to prevent damage to your kidneys.

Strawberries have many health benefits. They are high in Vitamin C and polyphenols (a kind of antioxidant). Their anti-inflammatory properties may help with osteoarthritis, may help to regulate blood sugar, and the polyphenols may help to protect against cancer.

Health benefits of coconut milk

Coconut milk has many health benefits, too. Coconut milk is high in MCTs, which could reduce appetite and decrease calorie intake, may decrease stomach ulcer sizes, and the lauric acid in it may help to fight viruses and bacteria.

So when considering what healthy smoothie to have, you should definitely consider this matcha powder smoothie!

It’s like a strawberry matcha latte, but as a smoothie!

Strawberry matcha lattes are quite a fun drink to have, but sometimes can be a bit of a pain to make right. There is a bit of an art and patience needed to get them just right. But the great thing about having them in in smoothie form is they come together so easily! Just throw your ingredients in the blender and you have a quick and easy match green tea smoothie!

It’s a versatile strawberry matcha smoothie

If you like the taste of a strawberry matcha latte, you will love the taste of this strawberry matcha smoothie. For those of you not used to matcha, it does take some getting used to! So I recommend reducing the amount of matcha to start with, and adding as you make more.

Yo can also add more strawberries to sweeten the flavour, or if you are wanting this to be a purely keto matcha smoothie, then simply add more natural sweetener. I recommend using Stevia for the sweetest flavour or Erythritol if you want to keep the net carbs down as much as possible.

As this is a matcha powder smoothie, you can add or decrease the amount of green tea powder you use to suit your preferences.

Finally, if you are not a fan of coconut milk, you could use almond milk and make a almond milk matcha smoothie. You can use my homemade organic almond milk recipe here!

How to make a healthy strawberry matcha green tea latte smoothie

The great thing about smoothies is that they are super-easy to make, and this strawberry matcha smoothie is no different! You can blend this up in a matter of minutes. Just be sure you have some matcha powder.

Ingredients

Organic coconut milk – If you are a fan of knowing EXACTLY what is in the food you eat, I recommend making your own organic coconut milk. It is SUPER SIMPLE, and comes with the benefit of YOU controlling what goes in to it, rather than having things like stabilisers and other chemicals that can go in to shop-bought coconut milk.

Strawberries – You can use fresh strawberries or frozen strawberries, but I prefer frozen strawberries for this recipe, as the colder temperature works well with the coconut milk.

Matcha powder – Be sure to get a high-quality organic green tea matcha powder for the greatest benefits.

Double/heavy cream.

You can make this a vegan strawberry matcha latte by removing the cream. If you do this, it will not have quite as deep a flavour. In this instance, I recommend adding coconut yogurt instead of cream. It will add to the depth of the taste, whilst making it a vegan strawberry matcha latte recipe.

Stevia or other natural sweetener, such as Erythritol.

"This healthy strawberry matcha latte smoothie is packed full of body-and-mind-supporting nutrients. Who knew a green tea smoothie would be so enjoyable?! Check it out now!"

Prep Time 2 minutes
Cook Time 1 minute
Total Time 3 minutes

Ingredients

  • Homemade organic coconut milk (you can use my recipe here) - 480ml / 2 cups / 16.9 fl oz
  • Strawberries (fresh or frozen) - 100g / 2/3 cup / 3.53 oz
  • Organic Matcha powder - 1 tsp
  • Double cream (heavy cream) - 30ml / 2 tbsp / 1.05 fl oz
  • Stevia (or other natural sweetener) - 1 tsp

Instructions

  1. If you need organic coconut milk, you can use my homemade recipe here!
  2. If using frozen strawberries, blend first before adding the remaining ingredients, so they mix better in to the final smoothie.
  3. Add all the remaining ingredients to the blender.
  4. Blend.

Notes

  • I prefer to use homemade organic coconut milk over using shop-bought coconut milk, as I know exactly what's in it, there are no preservatives or stabilisers and I can control the texture. On top of this, it's far cheaper than buying it in a store, and you can use the left-over coconut pulp in other recipes!
  • If you are using frozen strawberries, blend them first so that they mix well in to the final strawberry matcha smoothie.
  • For those of you who have not had it before, matcha has a very distinct and strong flavour. Add less if you are unsure if you will like the flavour. You can increase it over time as you get used to it.
  • If it still tastes to "green" for you, add more strawberries or Stevia!
