Why I love almond butter in smoothies

Almond butter in smoothies is GREAT!

There’s something about a nut butter smoothie – especially almond butter – that is just amazing.

It’s just the flavor!… Wow!

Almond butter gives smoothies this deep flavor that is hard to match, even with blended plain almonds.

Almond butter goes really well with many ingredients, such as raspberries, chocolate and coconut yogurt.

It is also calorie-dense, which is great if you are looking to make your smoothie a meal replacement shake.

So, for me almond butter in smoothies is a big win!

It’s an almond butter shake with healthy ingredients

You don’t have to have any fear when drinking this cocoa almond butter smoothie, because it’s full of ingredients that have great health benefits.

Health benefits of almond butter

Almond butter has many great health benefits, so its great to put into an almond butter shake.

Because of its high protein content, it helps to suppress your hunger, especially if you have it at breakfast.

Almonds also contain prebiotic compounds, which help to keep your gut healthy.

Almond butter is full of vitamin E, which helps to protect your skin, and the fats in the almonds could help to improve your memory function.

So have no worries about making an almond butter shake, because you will be taking in many good-for-you nutrients!

Health benefits of avocado

Avocados are generally known as a superfood, as they have many health benefits.

Avocados contain more potassium than bananas.

Potassium is linked to a reduced blood pressure.

Avocado is full of healthy fats, the main one of which is oleic acid.

Oleic acid has been associated with reduced inflammation, and could help to reduce the risks of cancer.

Avocados are high in fiber (which makes them great in a keto smoothie).

Fiber helps to regulate blood sugar and can contribute to weight loss.

Eating avocados can also reduce triglyceride levels and lower cholesterol.

So avocados are really great in a smoothie!

Health benefits of coconut yogurt

Coconut yogurt has many health benefits, too, making it a great addition to healthy smoothies!

Coconut yogurt contains probiotics, which are great for your gastrointestinal microbiome.

Coconut yogurt is high in calcium, which is good for your bones, high in vitamin D, which helps with the absorption of calcium, high in vitamin B12, which helps to keep the nervous system healthy, and high in magnesium, which may strengthen bones.

I love coconut yogurt smoothies!

It’s a keto almond butter smoothie for weight loss…

Another great thing about this almond butter chocolate smoothie is that it is a Keto smoothie!

Those of you who are not on a keto diet don’t need to worry – you can still make and very much enjoy this smoothie!

But those of you who are on a Keto diet, you will be glad to know this is a Keto almond butter smoothie and is great for weight loss.

Coming in at only 8.9g of net carbs, it leaves you a lot of room to consume more net carbs through your other meals.

It also checks in at 441.9kcal, so works out great as a meal replacement shake.

With 36.7g of fat and 15.7g of protein, this is a high-protein smoothie that will keep you full for a long time – which is great when you are trying to lose weight.

…and it’s in fat bomb smoothie form!

Something people love when on a Keto diet is fat bombs.

But that can quickly become boring and it can be hard to find new fat bomb recipes.

For me, this is where fat bomb smoothies come in really hand, and this is no different!

This keto almond butter smoothie definitely classes as a fat bomb smoothie, as it checks in with 36.7g of fat!

This is down to the Philadelphia cream cheese, the avocados, and the almond butter.

Together, they make the perfect keto smoothie ingredients when you are looking for a fat bomb smoothie.

And the coconut yogurt helps, too!

It’s a low carb smoothie

By the way, if you’re not quite on a Keto diet, but do like to eat a low-carb diet, then this low carb smoothie is perfectly suitable for you.

It has 13.5g carbs (8.9g net carbs), so can definitely be considered to be a low carb almond butter smoothie for weight loss.

Is this the perfect keto smoothie?

Arguably, this is the perfect keto smoothie.

Or at least one of them! Why?

It is low in net carbs (8.9g), whilst also providing a good amount of protein (15.7g), it can take the place of one meal with its calories (441.9kcal), and, importantly, is packed full of good nutrients!

It’s not just bacon and eggs again!

Even if it’s not the perfect keto smoothie, it’s definitely a great keto smoothie anyway!

Cocoa almond butter chocolate smoothie recipe

Although there are a lot of ingredients for this cream cheese smoothie, don’t worry – it’s actually pretty simple to make, and the only thing that won’t store for quite a long time is the avocado.

So why not use it in another avocado smoothie?

Ingredients

Almond butter – Be sure to get a high-quality almond butter. I personally love Pip & Nut almond butter because it is made with high-quality almonds, contains no palm oil, and tastes GREAT!

Avocado.

Coconut yogurt – Bear in mind that not all coconut yogurts are actually pure coconut yogurt! Some are actually dairy yogurt with coconut flavoring, and some are soy yogurt with coconut flavoring. I like So Delicious coconut yogurt because it is made with organic coconut milk, and the unsweetened variety is great for a Keto smoothie.

Philadelphia / Cream cheese – Yep! Cream cheese in a smoothie! Trust me, it’s great!

Cocoa powder – If you are on a Keto or low-carb diet, be sure to get a cocoa powder that is low in net carbs. Usually that means getting a darker cocoa, such as this one.

Stevia, or other natural sweetener such as Erythritol.

Steps

First things first, prepare the ingredients for the cocoa almond butter chocolate smoothie.

Add the coconut yogurt to the blender.

Add the almond butter.

Add the avocado.

Add the Philadelphia cream cheese.

Add the cocoa powder.

Add the Stevia or Erythritol.

Add the water.

Blend.

You now have an AMAZING cocoa almond butter chocolate smoothie fat bomb! Enjoy!

Notes

  • This is a thick cocoa almond butter chocolate smoothie! If it's too thick for you, add some water.
  • If you find this is not sweet enough, lose some of the avocado. Surprisingly, that will have more of an affect than adding more Stevia. You could start from 30g and work up to 60g.
  • When adding the almond butter, be sure to mix it first so that you don't just get the oil that can settle on top. Be sure to use a high quality almond butter. I like to use Pip & Nut.
  • IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT COCONUT YOGURT: Not all coconut yogurts are created equal! Be sure you use actual coconut yogurt, and not coconut flavoured yogurt. Further, many have sugar added, which will stop this cocoa almond butter chocolate smoothie being as Keto-friendly. So be sure to check that your coconut yogurt option fits within your macro ingredients requirements!
  • When using cocoa powder, be sure that it is low carb and does not have added sugar. Hot chocolate powder usually has added sugar.
